Communication Services

About Our Communications Services

Both internal and external communications must be accessible to individuals with disabilities.  What this includes is newsletters, board letters, agendas and minutes, flyers, announcements, videos, and more!  LC Disability Consulting can inventory and analyze your agency’s communications and create a strategy for you to reach all constituents and clients, including those with disabilities.  We can also develop best practices and educate your workforce on how to achieve compliance.

The requirements outlined in Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act require that all of your Information and Communication Technology (ICT) be accessible to people with disabilities.  What this means is that the visually impaired must be able to navigate your websites using screen readers in a manner equivalent to those without visual impairments.  Your online forms must be usable by individuals without arms who, unable to utilize a mouse, navigate the web using only a mouth held pointer and keyboard clicks.  Many, many agencies do not comply with these technology accessibility requirements because of the highly specialized knowledge required to execute a program and plan to address violations.  Our firm has direct experience analyzing organizational structures to design an effective ICT accessibility program, as well as performing outreach and recruitment for technology experts equipped to address these issues on an ongoing basis.

Advertising, branding, and public communications can easily deter and even offend the disability community without sound guidance and input from someone directly involved in disability culture.

Positive disability imagery, knowledge of the primary community needs and concerns, and an understanding of current legislative and political trends are all necessary to fully engage with and market to persons with disabilities.  Allow LM Disability Consulting to develop a comprehensive communications plan for any component of your business needs.
